Lol, I believe it started with twitch, and then escalated to onlyfans. Really I think what it is as they were already women that were on porn sites, but they weren't getting a good enough cut, so they decided to do this instead and it blew the fuk up.

I've seen a few perspectives on this.
one of them that stands out the most has to do with kids who turn 12 and they are going through puberty and can't access websites that would have porn on them because their parents block their phones or devices from accessing it, however within the past ten or so years websites like twitch, that first started off as a Gaming website for video games, slowly progressed over time to become a place where women pretend to be gamers, I'm sure you've heard of the twitch thot culture?
Where these attractive females get on and pretend to play video games, but it all becomes a place where you can send in money to support these girls eventually these women started resorting to doing things like wearing less clothing talking about certain subjects that normally wouldn't be allowed on Twitch, however because these women were making so much fucking money on Twitch, the website started using that to their advantage and just started allowing almost anything to take place on the website, even though they had a policy that was strictly for children.
They started getting Flack from YouTubers who paid attention to all of these details, one I remember notably was it's a Gundam on YouTube, his videos were not only funny but they were basically red pills to what was actually going on with Twitch, which pretty much caused a backlash on the platform so that the twitch staff would actually do something about the streamers, unfortunately that backfired because again it didn't matter what these women were doing because they made twitch money.
And then other women twitch streamers started escalating on what they could get away with, just like women do in real life, always testing the waters in how far they can go.
so from my understanding a lot of these boys start off watching twitch and they enjoy watching these twitch thots, I'm not sure how these kids have money and how they pay these women, but somehow they have money to donate with.
anyways they enjoy giving women money for some companionship or some connection as a lot of men or boys nowadays are growing up in a very gynocentric Society, that treats most boys like shit in school where the majority of boys are virgins who don't get much attention or validation or are able to give validation to women because " he's creepy " which can turn into false rape accusation at the drop of a hammer, it also could be that it's safer to use twitch to get that validation then with a real girl in real life.
So I believe it's a combination of getting that attention that these boys want but to also have a connection to the woman there talkin to.
So not everything is about porn or seeing them naked, that's just an added benefit to the validation they receive on twitch.
after that it just becomes natural to them they get addicted to the validation they receive through their donation.

All those points make some sense. commercial internet didn't exist when I was young. I remember when BBS dialup on PET computers were "the new thing to do".
I also have a very early childhood memory of my dad coming home from work, and hugging my sister and I with tears streaming down his face as he held us close. It wasn't until I was teenager that I learned he had at that time worked for family services and had to go to court to take children from mothers to put them in foster care because of the mothers prison terms for "sex work".
That experience has done much to innoculate me against it.
